Key terms:

  1. End of Product Life Cycle: A process that guides the final business operations associated with the product life cycle. The end-of-life process consists of a series of technical and business milestones and activities that, once completed, make a product obsolete. Once obsolete, the product is not sold, manufactured, improved, repaired, maintained, or supported.
  2. End of Life Announcement (EOLA): Issuance of an EOLA marks the beginning of the EOL life cycle for a platform, content product or software product. The EOLA will precede the LOD date by up to 90 days.
  3. End of Support Announcement (EOSA): ): Issuance of an EOSA marks the end of the EOL life cycle for a platform, content product or software product. The EOSA will precede final date for Support and maintenance for products by YDP Support Department
  4. End of Support (EOS): The EOS date is the date when all maintenance and engineering for a hardware, platform content product or software product ceases.
  5. Last Order Date (LOD): The last day that a product will be available for order from YDP and shall be removed from the Price List.
  6. Software Maintenance support: The time period that YDP may release any software maintenance releases or bug fixes to the software product. After this date, YDP will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.
  7. General Availability (GA): cNew releases with general maintenance.

 

Product Life Cycle Overview and EOL Notifications

  1. YDP periodically introduces new products, services, product enhancements and other offerings. As part of this process, older products and services may be discontinued. YDP is committed to making the transition from discontinued products to new offerings simple for our customers.
  2. As part of this YDP will inform customers regarding important milestones, including the initial End-of-Life (EOL) notification, Last Order Date (LOD), and EOS milestone dates, as described below. YDP normally provides EOL notification to our customers for discontinued products up to 90 days prior to the LOD. Customers can receive EOL notifications directly by signing up for Technical Bulletin* or indirectly by checking this posting on the YDP support web site. (http://www.ydp.eu/support/)
  3. Customers may continue to purchase products up until the announced LOD. YDP will provide technical support and service for products up until the announced EOS date.

 

EOL Policy

  1. YDP typically provides support for products as listed below:
  2. For technology products and releases, the following End of Life policy applies:
    1. Major feature releases will be supported for 24 months
    2. Support includes technical support, bug fixes, maintenance releases, workarounds, and patches for critical bugs.
  3. For content products and releases, the following End of Life policy applies:
    1. Content releases will be supported for 12 months
    2. Support includes technical support, bug fixes, maintenance releases, workarounds, and patches for critical bugs.

 

For software products and releases, the following End of Life policy applies:

  • Major feature releases will be supported for 24 months
  • Support includes technical support, bug fixes, maintenance releases, workarounds, and patches for critical bugs.
  1. Products being discontinued are typically identified as such on the price list for 90 days prior to LOD. At LOD, discontinued products are removed from the price list and are no longer available for purchase. Support for discontinued products is provided only to customers who purchased a support contract (SLA) prior to the removal of the product and services from the.
  2. Note: Only products that are covered by a current YDP End of Life policy are eligible for renewal after LOD for the product.
  3. Replacement units provided during the period after EOLA date may not be identical to products purchased prior to product discontinuation. It is possible that replacement units may require customers to implement network changes (such as reconfiguration, software updates, and hardware upgrades) and may affect service pricing when the support contract is renewed.
  4. YDP reserves the right to charge an additional fee for continued support of any discontinued products. YDP also reserves the right to reduce or amend support offerings available for renewal under this policy at any time and at its sole discretion, with or without notice.
  5. After EOS date, YDP will no longer accept technical support calls unless specifically communicated differently by YDP.

 

Policy and Fee Changes

  1. YDP reserves the right to change this EOL Policy and to reduce or amend Maintenance offerings available for renewal under this EOL Policy at any time, with or without prior notice.
  2. YDP reserves the right to charge an additional fee for continued support of products after the EOL or EOS dates, and is under no obligation to provide support after EOL or EOS. YDP also reserves the right to reduce or amend support offerings available for renewal under this policy at any time and at its sole discretion, with or without prior notice.
