Bett 2012 report
"Bett 2012 in London was my first international trade show. Young Digital Planet’s stand was a very busy place throughout the 4 days of the show. We held many interesting meetings with our partners and potential clients. It was wonderful to see that our products are really needed whether it is educational eContent, digital assets, eContent on demand or technology for publishers. It was great to hear people repeat the phrase: Yes, this is what we are looking for! We met visitors from so many different countries and cultures – European, Asian, Australian, African and American. They represented publishing houses and governmental authorities from all over the world but they had one thing in common: they were looking for high quality educational content or ways to digitalize their own. Guess what? We had solutions for them!
I also had a quick look at what other educational suppliers had to offer. I really liked the idea of the 3D classroom. I took a part in two biology lessons in an educational theatre. The first one was a 3D journey inside the human eye and the second one was an observation of the human immune system responding to a virus attack. Another exhibitor showed very interesting books for small children and children with disabilities along with a special “talking pen” that helped in reading books. Another “miracle” was an interactive carpet called “Alladyn” which showed various animations allowing children to jump on them, try to catch them or play in other ways - a very useful tool for SEN. The stands of the interactive whiteboard producers were also packed full. It was also very interesting to discover how tools invented by Google, Intel or Microsoft could be used to enhance education.
Altogether there were 650 exhibitors and around 30,000 visitors from each corner of the world. Bett’12 brought together the global teaching and learning community for four days of innovations and inspirations such as seminars, workshops, presentations and other fringe events.
We thank those who visited our stand for many inspiring conversations and our Young Digital Planet’s Team for the hard work and a great attitude during this year’s trade show."

I really liked the idea of the Integramouse Plus - a highly sensitive mouse controlled entirely by mouth. I was fascinated by the idea of a pen "reading" books and pictures called Iken Zing - perfect for visually impaired children and those who have difficulties reading, or even for children who are still learning to read. My attention was grabbed by the Soundbeam, which is a device that uses sensor technology to translate body movement into digitally generated sound and image.
I found Sensorypod especially interesting – it’s an interactive multi sensory room packed with immersive technology to create both stimulating and calming environments. It can be a highly effective aid for people with special needs, learning difficulties and mental health conditions, making public places more accessible.
I also discovered a tool converting a regular book into .mp3 format and a reading and writing toolbar for people with dyslexia where student’s mistakes are indicated. The student has a chance to hear the mistakes they’ve made and correct them. There were also programs improving children's reading skills and confidence, 3D educational programs, Interactive whiteboards designed for wheelchair users with the possibility of adjustment to eye level and other useful functionality. To sum up, I was impressed by quite a few new products and solutions and they served as great inspiration for my future projects."
