Online EDUCA Berlin 2008

We would like to thank everybody who visited Young Digital Planet’s stand at this year’s Online Educa Berlin.

Our company has been the Gold Sponsor of the event this year. Our presence at the conference was highlighted by the speeches of Iwona Stankiewicz and Artur Dyro during the conference sessions of Educa.

Iwona Stankiewicz, during the session entitled ‘Content Development and Assessment’ presented ‘Digital Future of Education’ – our eEducational Architecture and its key components: yPublisher, yAuthor and yBook. The positive attitude of the audience towards the idea of publishing architecture was amplified by the great impression that was made by the sample content done in yPublisher. The form of the presentation itself – a flipbook – created strong interest among the session participants.

During the Friday plenary session entitled ‘Open Education Resources: Unstoppable or Unsustainable?’, Artur Dyro – Managing Director of Young Digital Planet – presented his paper ‘Open Content – A Threat or a Chance for Commercial Publishers?’.

According to the main theme of the presentation, publishers should support and co-exist with open content rather than perceive it as a competitor. Moreover, educational publishers need to invest more in the development of online content if they want to compete with open educational resources in the long run. Read more on the subject in the interview with Artur Dyro published on the conference site at http://www.icwe.net/oeb_special/news113.php
