The German premiere of the Digital Books Solution - Bookshelf
The German premiere of Young Digital Planet’s Digital Books Solution – Bookshelf took place at Didacta, Hannover Germany (February 14-18, 2012).
During the trade show the German association of 86 education publishers called Bildungsmedien introduced Bookshelf (entitled Digitale Schulbuecher in German) to educators. Read the impressions from this significant event by our colleague - Przemek Chyrk, Customer Relationship Manager who was involved in the process of Bookshelf development:
“We were most impressed by the first day of our visit to the fair in Hannover for plenty of reasons. It was the day we discovered the nooks and crannies of the 4 huge exhibition halls, identified the locations of publishers from the Bildungsmedien association, watched the progress of their stand construction works and admired the discussion venues of the association itself which seemed really immense considering the space available. In the early afternoon, we were delighted to see our application on screens and interactive boards appearing all around. Something in the creation of which we had participated for a couple of months and watched a thousand times on our screens could now be found in almost every corner of the two halls where our partners presented the solution.
On the second day, as we were entering the fair site, we understood why the German publishers used the number of teachers visiting the fair to account for its size rather than the available exhibition area or the number of exhibitors. Indeed, the main group of visitors were teachers and students of educational faculties who numerously attended the fair and took advantage of the many special offers.
Many of them arrived at the fair with their suitcases or bags on wheels as if they had been coming here to furnish their professional libraries for years. The exhibitors also offered discounts that were often up to 50%, trying to meet their clients’ expectations. The presentations of the Bookshelf solution, at both the stand of the association and the individual exhibitors’ stands, also attracted a lot of attention.
The third day, which was our last day there, was marked by the press conference. The association meeting venues were very busy since early morning. That was also the day when the Digitale Schulbuecher project was officially presented to the German media. The presentation of Bookshelf was very successful. Our Clients were also pleased with the attendance which was higher than expected – about 70 representatives of the German media were present at the conference.
The fair went on without us, but the solution prepared by Young Digital Planet kept being promoted.
